What’s the skinny on the skinny jean?

March 14, 2011 in Everyday Fashion, New Trends

Are skinny jeans going out of style? Fashion designers showing their Spring 2011 collections clearly want to push consumers towards the wider pant leg and higher waistline. But many shoppers are not willing to part with the skinny jean or the “jegging” just yet.

Most claim that the only people who look good in them are skinny people. And the only time they actually look good are with 4-inch heels and how many of us are wearing those everyday?

The skinny jean has even become popular in menswear.

There are also skinny cargos and skinny denim designed for children.

But will the skinny jean ever leave? I believe that they have become a denim staple. The reason may be is because skinny jeans are easy to wear in any season.

According to fashion designers, the 70’s wide-leg, high-waist pants are the next trend. Wide-leg jeans are more flattering and are so much easier to wear.  You can wear these jeans with flip-flops, chunky heels, or even wedges and make your legs go on for miles.

Target’s Copycat Fashion and Shoes

March 3, 2011 in Articles, Celebrity Fashion, Everyday Fashion

I seem to have wine taste with a beer budget—so finding deals without sacrificing my flare for fashion is important. Bargain shopping can be considered fun for some, and tedious for others. I have noticed some companies have an amazing knack for piggy-backing off the big brands, and I am thankful for it. If you are unaware of this, let me point out one of the best copycats. Target seems to take advice from Steve Madden. So ladies, before you splurge at Steve, tame yourself for Target and wait.

This glittery golden heel on the left is made by Steve Madden. And to play Dorthy it will cost you $129.95. Now, I would imagine you can’t wear these everyday. So spending close to $150 on a pair of outrageously trendy heels is not a feasible option.

On the right, I would like to reveal Target’s beautifully crafted reflection of Steve Madden. This twin heel is only $29.99. Gasp! That is less than half the original. Now, if you are particular about how much a knock-out actually looks like the real deal, the most noticeable difference is the stiletto heel. The stiletto heel of the Target version is not glittered . Only a shoe connoisseur will notice the difference.

Personally, it isn’t about brands. Looking good is just that–looking good. And there are a number of outfits that really could use this glorious, glittered heel.

Just to prove to you that Steve Madden and Target are in a small tango, also check out this sandal that will be popular this upcoming spring and summer.

Once again, on the left is Steve Madden’s darling style of a new sandal. This beauty is $59.95. Not too bad for a sandal, but why would you pay full price for a shoe, when a replication will be just as cute and cheaper.

On the right, you can see Target’s rendition of this black and gold adorned sandal. Target’s sandal is only $17.99. Once again, Target’s shoe is less than half the price! The difference between these two sandal’s is mostly the brown base. Steve’s uses a gold thread about the base, whereas Target’s has a brown thread. However, if someone is getting close enough to your foot to see this differentiating detail–there are bigger problems.

These are just two examples. Target does not disappoint. So gawk at Steve Madden’s impressive shoes, and wait a few weeks for a better bargain.
